Fleas, heartworm, and all that fun stuff

It was time for Moxie’s booster vaccines, so we took a trip to the vets after we picked up the dogs from my Mom’s house on Thursday.

It’s funny because the dogs always get anxious when they get to go in the car and realize we’re on the highway. They don’t know whether they’re going to Grandma’s or the vet’s. (The vet’s office is on the way to my Mom’s.) They normally settle down when they realize that we’ve passed the vet’s.

Side note: Do you think dogs know landmarks? I mean really? Especially in the car.

Anyway, they got the surprise of going, which they weren’t too happy about.

Considering it’s summer, I’m worried about fleas. Especially after last summer. We’ve already prepared by spraying the house and putting the monthly flea treatment (I think we use Advantix) starting last month…ahead of schedule.

So what am I worried about this summer? Read more…

When we adopted her, we knew she had come from a puppy mill, was a breeding dog, and had been dumped in someone’s yard when they were through with her (sad, I know, but a much better fate than some dogs have).
